Chapter 11

Mary, Hannah and Nadia were having their breakfast in the cafeteria.

"I talked to Selene briefly on the phone and I'm thinking of inviting her again to come eat with us. Do you think maybe you could parade some lakies around here. Tell Kit or Kat to bring them for dinner. I would tell Ror but you know how difficult it is for corgies and females. As of yet none of them dare to get a female. I think it's still going to be a while." Mary sighed.

"I'll ask Kit. I'm sure that a lakie would be a better choice for someone like Selene. She'd be the man of that house." Hannah laughed.

Nadia nodded in agreement. "She needs someone sweet."

They watched Evelyn get out of the elevator, wondering who she was.

She had a scowl on her face and she saw them. She walked right past them.

"Well if it isn't carrot top, a dumb blonde and shamu." She grumbled on the way.

It took a moment for them to realize that she had just insulted them.

"That bitch." Nadia scoffed.

"Who is she?" Mary growled. Her sharp teeth on display. "Who does she think she's calling a dumb blond?"

"Carrot top? Really?" Hannah crossed her arms.

The elevator opened again and out stepped Zirk. He went to them. "Have you seen a female with curly black hair and green eyes?"

"You know her? You better tell her to watch out what she tells people. I'm really fighting my corg instincts to go kill her." Mary complained.

He saw what he meant as he looked in their head. "I am sorry for her behavior. She's not very happy with me."

Hannah rolled her eyes. "What did you do now?"

"She's going to be my mate."

"What?!" All three exclaimed.

"Yeah. I have to go find her. Which way did she go?"

Mary pointed in the direction she had left.

"Thanks. I'll explain some other time."

"Sure." She mumbled as he went on a mission. She turned to her friends. "Her? His mate? How did this happen? She wasn't even approved."

"Approved by who?" Nadia asked.

"Us." Mary frowned. "I don't like her already."

"I don't either." Hannah agreed. "She called Nadia fat."

"Oh thanks for reminding me." Nadia chuckled. "Let's hope this is all a mistake."

They all agreed.

I wanted to hit something. Maybe even yell at someone. I had of course already insulted a few women in the cafeteria. That was entirely all my fault but I was upset.

I didn't know where I even was. This was just an empty hallway.

"Freaking crap! I hate this place!" I yelled out angry. There was no one around anyway.

"You insulted some friends of mine." Zirk appeared from the hallway bend.

"What do you want?"

"I decided to follow you in case you tried to run away." He smirked.

Yes, that had been my idea if I had even been able to find a way out of here.

"That was your intention. Wasn't it?"

I shrugged.

"You can't run away. Come on, let's get it over with. The sooner the better." He waved a hand for me to follow him.

"Why are you so eager to make me your mate? Is it the sex? Is that what you're after? I'm sure there are plenty of women who would want to sleep with you."

"No it's not that."

"Then what?" I refused to go with him until he told me.

"I can't explain it."

"That's not enough."

"Evelyn." His tone was a warning. I could feel it inside of me.

I glared at him. "I'm not going."

"Fine, then I'm going to return you to prison." He came at me and before I could blink I was thrown up in the air and over his shoulder.

"Hey! Put me down!"

"No. We're going on my ship and I'm delivering you back where you came from."

Fear gripped me. They would know what Helen and I had done. I would be lynched or stabbed as soon as I stepped foot in that place.

He headed back where we had come from. I saw the door leading from the cafeteria.

"Let me go!" I squirmed but he was too strong. "Alright! I'll marry you!"

All too soon my stomach flipped and I was suddenly rushed toward the floor. My bottom hit the tile hard.

There was a snort and some giggles from my right. I turned and saw the women I had insulted a while ago. They were laughing at me.

"Something funny, slut?" I told the blond one.

Her eyes flashed red before she lunged over the table and attacked me. I saw a glint of sharp teeth before they dug into my arm.

I yelled and scrambled over her, pulling her hair. She growled and did the same to me.

We were a tangle of limbs as people yelled at us.

I was pulled away from her as was she from me by the other two women.

A large alien, who I remembered to be Ror, roared and gnarled his teeth at me. Zirk got into a defensive stance and did his mid transformation thing.

"You better control your female before she gets hurt." Ror growled at him.

"Back off, corg, unless you want to get torn to pieces." Zirk's tone sounded a little meshed because of the clashing his sharp teeth did.

"Enough!" Rak's voice boomed from the cafeteria entrance. "Why did I get a call of a fight? There's never been one here before."

"It was our females." Ror informed him. He straightened but didn't stop watching me.

"Over what?"

"She called me a slut and I wasn't able to hold back my anger." Blondie answered. "I'm sorry." She wiped the blood off her mouth.

I glanced down at my arm and saw that it was bleeding. Actually it had but now it didn't.

"Evelyn." Zirk was back to his normal self and gave me a look.

I sighed. "I'm sorry for insulting you. I have anger problems. Apparently not as bad as you, Blondie."

"My name is Mary." She lifted her chin. "You are forgiven."

I rolled my eyes. As if I needed her forgiveness.

"There will be no fighting between females. Is that understood?" Rak kept looking at me.

I shrugged.

"Rak, I need to talk to you." Zirk told him.

I could feel the pressure in my chest as I knew what he was going to tell him.

"Evelyn will be my mate. I need it all done today."

The alien looked taken aback. "Are you sure about this? I thought..."

"Yes, I am sure. She's the one I want."

I looked at Zirk in surprise. His words did a funny thing inside me. There was no smirk and I almost thought he was being sincere.

I frowned and turned my head away. I didn't care if he was being sincere or not. There was never going to be anything between us only that piece of paper. Perhaps after I forgave him for this I could move on and pursue something with him.

I found that less than likely.

"Do you want this Evelyn?" Rak asked me.

"I don't really care." I gave an air of indifference. I would have liked to do this in private but we still had the audience. "Don't you have things to do instead of standing there looking stupid?" I told Mary and the other two.

"I have a mind of attacking her myself." Carrot top huffed.

"I'm sorry Hannah. Can we get this going?" Zirk apologized to her and turned to Rak. "Now."

"Yes. We'll get the paperwork and have it signed by both of you. You will be legally married here on earth and you do what you have to do in your room." He turned on his heel.

Zirk pushed me slightly towards following Rak. I grumbled and followed.

I didn't know how I was going to memorize all the floors and where the elevator led. I would have to ask Zirk for help on that.

One glance at him told me that I did not want to do that. I had fared on my own for years. I could continue to do it. I would figure out my own way.

The paperwork didn't take long to get going.

"We'll do vows and then you can..." Rak started but I finished by signing where I was supposed to.

"No vows are needed. I'll be faithful 'til death do us part." I gave him a sarcastic smile. "Don't worry about that."

Zirk took the pen and signed. "We're done?"

Rak nodded. "You are now married."

Apparently there was no need for us to have a ceremony or have someone officiate over us signing. It was different for alien-human relationships.

"What do I do now?" I asked Zirk as we headed for the elevator.

"We need to get you clothes."

I looked down at my orange jumper. "I know I need them but I would really love a hot shower more than anything."

"I'll take you to my room here and you can do that. I'll go purchase what you need."

"Of course you live here. Why am I not surprised?" I leaned against the elevator wall.

He smiled. "Not everyone lives here. Corgies live underground and there's a lakie neighborhood. I live in the facility because there are only six of my kind."

I arched a brow. "Only six? Why?"

"We're hypnotists and enjoy getting inside people's heads. Do you think they have a reason to like us?" He smirked.

"You have a point. Thankfully you can't get inside mine." I grinned.

"I'll certainly keep trying though."

"You can if you want. I ain't going to stop you. Ugh." I groaned.

"What is it?"

"I forgot to say goodbye to Helen."

"You can see her after your shower. She'll be staying here a couple of days while they find her another prison to stay in."

That was thoughtful on their part. "Good. I'll have a chance to spend some time with her then."

We landed on another floor and it reminded me of an apartment floor only it was all in white.

He stopped me on the first door. "This is my room and now yours as well." He put his hand on a white pad and the door slid open. "We'll put in your handprint inside."

He motioned for me to enter. I walked through the doorway and stared at it all. It looked like what a bachelor pad should look like.

There was a black leather sofa in front of a blank wall to my right. On the left there was one of those floating tables.

I stepped further in and saw the similar panel like in the kitchen. I was sure there would frozen seafood in there.

"Follow me to the bedroom." He walked passed me and to another open doorway.

"Eager are we?" I rolled my eyes.

He grinned. "Oh, definitely but that is not the reason why I'm taking you in there. There's a bathroom."

There was a large circular bed in the middle of the room. It was white of course but there were what looked to be decorative pillows in black.

"I needed something other than white." Zirk commented from another opening. "This is the bathroom." He disappeared inside.

The room was white. A crystal wall showed what was meant to be a shower place.

He went around showing me how to make little faucets come out that would contain soap to wash myself. The water would come out to the perfect temperature I needed.

There was a sink that didn't look like one at all. A toilet that came out of the wall for whenever it was needed. It was all sensor based.

"Wow. This is something else." I looked around. It kind of intimidated me.

"I'll let you have your shower then and I will be back with clothes. I'll take out a shirt for you though for once you are out. I'll probably take a while getting what you need."

"You're going to leave the facility?" I questioned.

"No. There's actually a department store on another floor."

I sighed. Of course there was. "Alright. Leave the shirt on the bed. I'm going to shower."

"I'll see you." He left me alone in the bathroom.

I clicked my tongue and shook my head. Who would've thought that in a few hours I had escaped a prison and gotten married to an alien.

"Before I forget." He startled me as he entered again. He went straight to me and put an arm around my back, pulling me flush against him.

His mouth caught mine before I could react. Without even thinking about it I returned the passionate kiss.

My whole body lit on fire inside.

Just as soon as he kissed me, he suddenly let me go. I was breathless and a little dazed.

"Gives you something to look forward to." He winked and at last did leave me alone.

That alien really did know how to push my buttons.
