Chapter 6

I was shaken roughly. My back hurt, actually everything they did.

"Wake up. It's after ten." The deep voice roused me from my sleep.

I stretched and blinked. Oh right, I was with the freaking prince. How royal. "You could have woken me more gently." I frowned.

"I tried your name but you sleep like the dead." He smirked. "Snore like a corg as well."

"I have no idea what that means." I stood up. "Guess I'll go out and make sure no one is awake."

He moved the shelves from in front of the door. I opened it quietly and looked out. The lights were dim and the hallway empty.

I stepped out and headed towards the dining area. There was still a mess of things but not a person other than the dead guards.

I swallowed and kept walking, missing anything that could make a noise.

The doors of the cells were still open. The only difference was that the women were in there sleeping.

Maybe we could get through bit by bit.

The next place we could hide was the laundry room. It was large enough for us and I could hide him somehow.

I tiptoed towards it across a few cells to make sure no one was awake. The door was unlocked which was a relief. We could lock it up after us.

It was empty but there were sheets strewn about.

I made my way back to the storage closet and peeked inside.

"I found somewhere to hide. Come on."

He widened the door and got out.

"You do your thing and keep them asleep."

"I'll give them sweet dreams." He assured.

I led him back to the laundry room. I felt his presence behind me. I wanted to tell him to lookout where he was walking but I didn't want to end up waking the women.

I opened the door and we quickly got inside. I locked the door and leaned against it.

"What now?" He looked around the room.

"I need to go out there and make sure we will have a way out of here and onto the next block. I don't know exactly how I can do that if I can't leave you here. You also can only work on 20 people at a time."

"Sorry that my capacity can't be more." He looked offended.

"Well maybe if you worked on it better." I countered.

"You try hypnotizing and let's see how far you'll go."

"I accept that challenge." I licked my lips, drawing his attention to them. I pulled my bottom lip through my teeth and slowly walked to him.

I made sure to make it a sensual walk, locking eyes with him when they trailed up my face.

"You know, it's very lonely here. Sometimes I wondered when a hot, sexy man would make an appearance."

I stepped up to him and kept my head raised, never breaking eye contact except for the casual blink.

I put a hand on his arm and moved it up slowly. I could feel the taut muscles under the thick leather. I let out a shuddering gasp which was not part of this.

I kept more in control.

"Then you appeared as if from my dreams. Tall, dark and handsome. Those eyes as dark as night. Those lips..." I made sure to glance at them.

He swallowed nervously.

I leaned up on my tiptoes. My hand was already up behind the nape of his neck. I pulled him down towards me.

My breathing shallow.

Right before our lips met I broke the charm. "And that's how you fucking do it." I started laughing and pulled away from him. "What do you think about that?" I smirked at him.

He wasn't pleased at all. "That's not hypnotizing."

"No? Well I sure thought you looked like a fool under my charm. Hell, I almost believed it myself."

I walked around the room and started picking up sheets. I would make myself a nice comfortable bed because I certainly deserved it.

He watched me make my bed and lay on it.

"What are you doing?"

"Going to bed."

"I thought we were going to the control room." He crossed his arms in agitation.

"We will tomorrow morning. Look, it's not secure that we will make it to the next block. What I do know is that when these women wake up, they'll want to eat. All of them will be at the dining area."

"Are you sure about this?"

"Yes now please let me go to sleep. Goodnight." I covered myself and closed my eyes.

"You sleep too much." I heard him complain.

"Not enough in a place like this." I mumbled.

There was shuffling around the room then the light turned off. I heard his footsteps and his drop to the floor.

I wanted to fall asleep again quickly.

"Why are you here?"

I peeked with one eye. "What?"

"Why are you here in this place? What did you do?"

I sighed. "I'm here because I likely killed someone."

"I can't believe that from you."

"Why not?"

"You don't look capable of it."

"I don't look capable?" I opened both my eyes and sat up. "What do I have to look like to be the image of a killer?"

He sat up on his elbows. He wasn't that far from where I was laying at. "You have to have that killer look in your eyes."

"A glare?"

"No. It's this dull look. Your eyes get that faraway look. It's killer."

"Okay...well, don't know what to tell you but it's on my record."

"I still don't believe you."

"Then don't."

"What if I want to know?"

"Too bad."

There was silence as I laid back down. I covered my head with the sheet this time to ignore him. There was a pull in me. Something deep that wanted me to turn around and share my deepest secrets to him.

Not that there were any. Everyone who knew me knew everything about me.

I was one of the bad kids of the block. I was the kind of girl that your parents told you to stay away from. I didn't have much friends which helped replace my heart with a hard block.

I wouldn't let anyone get inside to hurt me. So why was my body wanting to let a complete stranger and alien in it? Not only physically but emotionally. Yes, physically. I could feel that small tingle of awareness throughout my limbs.

It made me slightly restless which had me shuffling around my sheets after a few minutes.

"Can't sleep?" He was still wide awake.

"What's keeping you up?"

"None of your fucking business."

"Why are you like this?"

"Like what?"

"Rude, foulmouthed and defensive."

"It's the way I grew up. Can't blame me for that."

"We all have choices in how we want to grow up Evelyn."

"Not everyone. I would have chosen a nice family to grow up in. Not the horrible foster parents I kept getting. So don't talk to me about being able to choose what I want."

"Well you can make your choices now. What would you like most in the world?"

I sighed loudly but I would keep up this stupid game. "I would like to be free. No more jail time and have a place to call home."

"That's it?"

I scowled and turned to face him. I could see him in the dark as I was sure he could see me with those black eyes of his. "It's a lot to hope for. I still have years until I'm let out. I have a record so it won't be easy for me to get a job or a home."

"Anything is possible if you just believe." He chuckled.

I rolled my eyes and went back to ignoring him. It was for the best. He was an ass.

"Do you think they'll make it?" Ror asked Rak as they looked up at the large prison.

"I think they can. Hopefully."

"We should prepare in case they don't. The sea king won't be happy."

"I know. It's late maybe they won't make it today. The police are thinking up strategies to get inside without our help. We can let them take over and simply get Zirk out someway using the blueprints like we talked about."

"It could be a working plan." Ror looked down at the open blueprints on the ship. "They were in a storage closet near the office. Correct?"

"I don't know if he'll fit in the air conditioning ducts. He's much too large, then again they are industrial."

"There looks to be a large one in the laundry room." Rix came forward and pointed to what he saw.

Ror nodded. "If we could get them there then maybe they could get out."

"I'll tell him as soon as he communicates with me. I don't want to call him and risk him getting caught. Go home men and be back bright and early. I think they are all sleeping for now."

Ror called his men. A few of lakies were going to take over until they came back.

Rix and him walked together to the ships.

"I'm sorry you didn't meet any women." Ror told him.

"Is that why you brought me?"

"No but it was Mary's idea and intention."

Rix gave a nod with a sad look on his face. Ror chose to ignore it. He didn't want to confront his best warrior because he had feelings for his female.
