Wake Up Call

Good morning! Good morning!” This is your scheduled ‘Wake Up’ call. Come on now, open up those eyes and don’t be so grumpy.

Ow! You don’t have to hit so hard, you know. I’ll allow you a five minute snooze quite easily so there’s no need for you to be quite so rough in pressing that button. But today five minutes is all you are going to get. Try reaching for me again and you are going to be in for a surprise.

You see, this is a real wake up call and you need to start really opening those eyes and ears of yours. And to help me achieve this almost gargantuan feat I have sprouted legs – and feet, but note the different spelling. When you try to shut me up, and I know you are going to get quite aggressive in your attempts, I’m going to be able to dodge and dive and evade your grasping hand.

One minute left so make the most of it. I am about to disrupt your sleep in a way that has never happened before. A few knee bends to limber up, a couple of calf stretches and I’m ready to go into battle.

Good morning! Good morning!” This is your wake up call. And I am not going to shut up until you prise those eyes open, lift that head from your pillow.

Now, that was a nasty swipe! I bet you were surprised when I was not there in your reach! And do watch your language, please! This is for your own good after all, it makes no difference to me whether you get up or not.

I’m still dipping and diving, and missing your hand. I’m hearing all the threats – would you really hurl me at the wall or out of the window? Look at me. I’m still smiling as I ring in the new day, in spite of the curses you are aiming in my direction.

Just out of reach, I’m bouncing up and down. I wonder if my new legs are here to stay or if this is a one off opportunity for me to really wake you up. That’s it, I can see those eyelids part. And yawn all you like; I’m not shutting up until you get out of that bed and get your head out of the clouds.

Today, I want you to REALLY wake up. I want you to look around and see what is happening, and listen to what is about to happen.

Be warned. Be aware. This is your ‘Wake Up’ call!
