It was a new college for James and Jack. They were roommates they didn’t know each other that well yet but are friends. “Hey James, how was class?” asked Jack. “Boring as always,” replied James. James didn’t like school as much as Jack. Hours later they needed to get candy. “James, I’m going to the store,” said Jack. “Okay well I’ll stay here,” replied James. When Jack left James went on the computer and started playing his favorite game. All of sudden he heard a knock at his door.

He looked up from the computer and stared at the door. He thought it was his neighbors in their room so he ignored it. He kept playing his game and the knock occurred again but louder. He got up from his game and looked out the peephole of his door, there was no one there. He opened it. “Hello?” James asked. James heard a weird noise from inside the room. He left the door open and went investigating in his room.

He gripped his metal baseball bat, holding it tightly. His hands were sweating a lot because of how worried he was. “Who’s there?” James asked. No answer. He really didn’t expect an answer from whatever was in his room, if he did he would be bombing his room. He saw his computer was messed up, there was a blue screen on it. “What the?” James thought. He tried to fix it, and with one click it, it was repaired. All the files were gone besides one. It was the downloads file, he opened it up and there was one file called RUN.EXE, he clicked on it and there was 1 document on it. It said READ ME, he clicked on it and he started to read it.

“Dear reader, if you are reading this, you’ve been hacked by The Glitch. The Glitch is not a virus in the computer, it’s in the reality world, so starting from now. Turn around, and RUN!” James didn’t believe that for a second, he probably just got a virus and would get a new computer in the morning. He turned around ready for bed and standing there was a figure. It looked like a glitchy screen from a old computer back in the 90s, it was in the shape of a human. It was making a weird noise, James could hear a Windows XP computer starting up in it but it was quiet. It jumped at James but James dodged it and gripped his bat.

He smacked the figure in the head with the bat and it collapsed to the ground. “Get away from me!” James shouted. The figure vanished into the thin air. James was panting out of breath, he felt like he couldn’t breath. He couldn’t, something was gripping his throat and he looked down and saw the hands of the figure. He elbowed the figure and kicked the figure. He grabbed his bat and swung at the figure one last time. It exploded, James flew back and hit his head against the wall. He held it tight. “Freaking demon thing,” James whined. He had cleaned everything up before Jack got home. “I am back!” shouted Jack.

“Hey Jack, did you get candy?” asked James. “Yeah I got lots!” said Jack. James remembered about the computer. “Oh the computer is kinda broken,” said James. Jack looked at the computer, it was turned off. “Isn’t it just turned off?” asked Jack. “No, it’s broken,” replied James.

Jack tried turning it on but it wouldn’t budge. Later on in the night James and Jack fell asleep. The alarm went off and they woke up ate breakfast and went to class. “Okay, can anyone tell me what 493439235890234852935 x 94959 equals?” asked the teacher. James did the math on a piece of paper, he was thinking hard when a rumbling occurred. Students started screaming, “AHHH!” screamed students. “Students, calm down! It’s an earthquake get outside!” shouted the teacher. All of the students ran to the door. Jack ran to the door first but James tripped on the way there. No one stopped to help him as his foot got caught in between a desk and a chair.

“Help! Help!” shouted James. Jack turned back and looked at James. “James!” shouted Jack. Jack tried to run back after James but the roof collapsed on the doorway. It was blocked and so was James. His foot got unstuck, he ran for the window and opened it up. He looked down the 4 story building. “Should I jump?” James asked himself. He decided not to but didn’t know what to do. There was more rumbling, and the floor James was standing on started falling. He jumped onto the window cell. That's when the window cell fell, he fell onto the 3rd floor. He tried to get up and go to the doorway but then that floor fell, the 2nd floor had already fell. He fell right to the 1st floor and his eyes shut.
