Chapter 1

The wind whistled over the mountain peaks of the Daquinzim territory. Wolves rushed by here and there, leaving their distinct paw prints in the snow. The sky was a silvery white as snow fell from the sky.

"Come on, we need to keep going." The dominant female said to her pack members. This female had distinct markings, russet brown with a silvery lining. Black spread from the tail to the paws, and the silvery lining reached all the way up to her perked ears. She had deep brown, calm eyes. Weighing almost 100 lbs, she had powerful muscules that rippled beneath her pelt. She was named for her jumping, for she was known as Leapina.

Her Beta, however, was hesitant about her decision. Her Beta weighed slightly more than her, about the normal weight for a male grey wolf. Weighing 112 lbs, he had a deep grey pelt, with a black tint that reached all the way up to his face. From there, he had a black mask. He was named after this, being known as Mas, short for Maskaminza.

"Leap, I don't think it's such a good idea to be traveling in this weather." Mas looked this way and that, then back to his Alpha.

Leapina stopped, turning back to the brute. "We need to find food, Maskaminza." She said. Being known for her stubbornness, she never gave up if she made goals.

"But, Leapina, we can't it's too dangerous. Expecially for the young hunters."

Leapina turned around once again, the wind flattening her fur against her face. "I give them permission to turn back, then."

One wolf named Rellmis got out of line, despite the look on Leapina's face. "Rellmis! You aren't a young hunter, you're the Beta!" She snapped. Rellmis looked at her in apology. "I am sorry, but I am concerned for my offspring."

He replied simply, before bounding off. "That coward!" Leapina growled to herself. "Mas, I don't suppose YOU'RE leaving, too?"

Mas sighed. "I'm sorry. We're all," He nodded to the other wolves. "going back." He finished.

Leapina growled. "Fine..." She started back. "I hope i'm making the right choice!"

Days passed and the wind settled in, wrapping it's chilly grasp around the wolves. They bundled up tight to keep warm.

Leapina had been eyeing a wolf on the border, known as Pollis. Many wolves said he wanted to join the pack, but Leapina wasn't sure. Her pup from a former litter had taken an interest in this Pollis, and breeding season was coming soon. She was worried that her dear Mellanil would leave the pack to join him. She had no choice but to accept him. One day, she approached the border, looking coldly at the brute, her tail held high in dominance.

"Who are you?" She demanded. She knew perfectly well what his name was, but she decided to ask anyway.

"Pollis." He replied politely, curling his tail between his legs. "I wish to join your humble pack."

Humble? ?Leapina was pretty flustered. "Fine. You will join as an omega, and only an omega. First, let's go over the rules. Number one, absoulutely no pups! This year we are having a hard time. So NO PUPS. Got it?"

"Why do you think i'd get a mate that soon?" Pollis cocked his head.

Such a liar. He knew perfectly well that Mellanil was a single, young, beautiful wolf.

"I'm just warning you." She growled.
