The night grew cold. All I could hear were crickets and night owls. The streetlights were as small as ants from the mountainside. The gusts of wind rushing towards me seemed to just about knock me over. I was sitting down as I looked up at the broken sky. The sun was being sucked into the darkness, and being overruled by the moon. Now he was the king, and he ruled the night. But it wouldn’t be long before the sun got back his liberty. Sometimes I have questions, but they will always be answered by experience. I have experienced many nights, and days, and I have been alive about a decade and a half. I could imagine floating off of the mountain and flying all the way up to the king of the night. We would sing, and dance together. He would let me try on his crown for size. I would drop it into the lake underneath us, and he would swoop it up and find me in the sky. That broken sky that all animals adore. The ruffled clouds, and colors of blue and red making purple, and yellowish orange forming purple. The king would accompany me back to the ground, and fly back up to his palace of colors. I would wave goodbye as I crawled into my bed, and dreamed of our night together. I love the king, but by morning time, he would be gone, and replaced by the glorious queen of day. She would be laughing as he disappeared under the horizon.
