As I lay me to rest

By Jasmine Howard

Inspiration evades me as slumber dawns through in waves of guilty nostalgia.

Visions of would-be selves and make believe scenarios that will never be, blur, haze and smolder into my vision behind half closed lids.

The music begins in my mental cinema. All my favorites are harmonized into a single run on, even ones long forgotten.

Familure faces make guest appearences before bleeding out into the void, beyond my thinking. I am now alone.

It is dark, cool, empty and deafening with eternal silence, one of the truest sound mind of which I confess to only having subconciously.

Of rest and peace.
