There must be an invisible, soul-sucking beast,

that hoovers common sense for a snack and a feast,

'cause how else to explain the inexplicable?

Our politics went from 'stable' to 'critical.'

Yes, there must be a monster who sucks up all visible light,

leaving common senser's staggering around in the dark of night.

Take a poor substitute for free will, and take away all reason,

and it's opening day of the mad season.

All the Trumper's limited out in 20 minutes,

now they're gulping Fox Kool-Aid that spews from the spigot

to relax after a hard day's dismantling excursion,

trying to get a square peg into a round hole--'phasers on stun!'

It's the illusion of making perfect sense, the 'Repub's magic show.

'Move along, there's nothing to see here!' they say, so you might not know

what's really going on, yet there's too many believers

who call themselves Republicans, but I call them deceivers,

not so much the everyday rank and file,

but the 'pros' who want us living in the State of Denial.

It's the inexplicable spell that has struck plenty of blue-collar millionaires,

spun by an egomaniac, heartless, clueless, and guileless billionaire (or so he claims!)
