From Old Memory to New Memory

I get closer to the rocky beach, and the memory starts coming back, and I remember the large, grey, fin slicing the water nearing me, and my scar on my leg, in the shape of a perfect half circle. Isay to myself,

“You can do it Nalu, it’s just Maui.” I push my surfboard out into the endless ocean, and climb onto it. I look down into the crystal waters and see nothing but a few fish, and my fear decreases. I look behind me for a wave, but there is nothing yet. I wait on my board, look behind me, and see a wave calmly drawing near me. The wave hits me and pushes me forward. Quickly, I push off of the board and stand up. The wave grows, then it starts to shrink, and I turn over the wave. The ocean is calm again, and I am closer to the shore. As I turn my head back to the beach I notice something. A fin. It’s big, grey and sharp; the same one, I thought? It was far, but with every second it got closer, and before it could get closer to me I swim as fast as I could, pulling my board behind me as I did. When I nearing the shore I hear a snap, and I am suddenly petrified with fear.
