Oh shadow dear stay near to me this night,

My sole companion, pal, and friend so true,

Stand by my side and guard me from this plight,

That yearns my blood upon the ground to strew,

My ever-faithful guardian take heed,

For evil beasts that come to hunt me down,

Who never stop though I may plead and plead

And look to steal right from my head my crown,

Cast out this baneful wickedness and ruin,

With valor fight till all the beasts have fled,

Then sing with me a sad, despondent tune,

For all those who perished and now are dead,

All thanks to you my brave, steadfast hero,

Who guides me through all of my times of woe.
