Chapter1 (v.1) - She wants to bear a child!

Author Chapter Note

The deep, hollowly resonating, barritone voice of the pure, musical tones that reverberated through every fiber of her body, gently woke Princess Precious to the final notes of the evening concert high above her secluded rock... That boistrous creature she so little understood, took her to unparalleled heights, and yet screamed sometimes with such shrill frequencies... Octives, ranges, & vibrations her hearing struggled to grasp & comprehend!
It's lonely on the rock... Her merman is frequently otherwise occupied with the humdrum duties of leadership... Of course she understands, but it still doesn't remove the sting of loneliness from the depths of her broken heart! Her pining has begun to show a little in the discoloration of her largest scales...

Dawn, a lonely time, yet not universally so! As forlornly she glances over at the frolicking of her flitting contemporaries, she sighs, while watching their joy. They sing... They lift their lilting musical refrains and dart here & there; Apparently they all feel excited about the morning. Why then shouldn't she share their inexorable enthusiasm? This is the question that haunts her mind. She turns away, seeking another focal point for her attention. Pain, such a painful feeling, loneliness... Not that anyone else in her world would understand! No, this burden was hers alone to bear. He, like all of the males in her world, had work to do. Once again he swam out early, once again her heart feels lost. Ever her emotions torment, always she must weigh the cost. How can a sea bound creature such as herself, understand fully such strange & powerful magic as those two legged humans she admires. Such mystery, such magic, such power! Like the Great Titan himself, the magic used by the humans to create such strength, must be immense!?! They'd already proven, beyond shadows of any doubt in her mind, with their echoing, booming, frequently painful, repeating magesty and power, the superiority which they held. It was one that she couldn't even begin to comprehend. It was an enigma, a strength, one she couldn't understand... So, the logic, for her, was that those lives were far superior!!

It didn't matter to her what her father's continuous warnings foretold! If they were truly so bad, she reasoned, he would have moved their own underwater city farther away! (Or he could have killed them all, for that matter!) But he didn't! No, no, there had to be more than one redeeming trait to them for him to allow them to be within such a short one hour's swim away! Their self-destructive way of providing reproductive cycles, of mating, couldn't be the ONLY value of these beings... (Even if that was what the Elders wanted her village of merfolk to believe!) Princess Precious, within her own mind, just wasn't willing to accept that! The more she listened to the sweet strains of the Pipe Organ, the more sure & convinced she became that there was more to it than just the preservation of her species... She made up her mind that she had to prove it to herself, no matter what the cost!!
