Country Summertime

Summertime in my rural world,

  Meanders lazily through

Slipping into the taste of iced tea

And dancing through casual conversations at the town fair

The streaming sun glistening off of fields of grass

Oozing from the juice of freshly picked strawberries

Clomping rhythmically on the horse’s hooves down a dirt road

Summer splashes with the beaver’s tail, slapping in the water

Buzzing with the bees on the sunflower path

Whispering through the green laced branches

Beckoning all to enjoy the fleeting warmth

The multi-shaded beauty

Of summer in the country
