Zebra-Vision

Within my world it’s simple

everything is black or white;

it’s really not too hard to decide

if something’s wrong or if it’s right.

But when you get those shades of grey,

they can then confuse,

the clarity once there before

you simply start to lose.

No longer a direct decision

between a simple ‘Yes’ or ‘No’,

the grey makes space for ‘I’m not sure’,

or maybe ‘I don’t know.’

I’ll hang on to my monochrome,

I prefer things to be clear,

for once those boundaries become blurry

all these problems then appear.

I’m happy to let in the white,

I’m content to see the black,

but keep that grey away from me

with its decisiveness attack.
