Chapter 1

The sound of thunder filled my ears but so did the sound of screaming

children. When I smelled the air I could smell the rain, musty earth and blood and when I felt the wind as though it had carried it I felt their sorrow. I couldn't help quivering in fear at their decreased,  small, lifeless bodies on the blood-soaked fields. As  I glanced around the battlegrounds I realized how many there were more than a thousand of them not counting the many who had already fallen. I had finally reached a calming point when it happened the children’s screams began once more

as they flooded back into the battlefield. Many had no chance of winning and fell instantly while others fought merely for the hope of returning home.

I had no idea how long I've been watching the battle there wasn't any way to tell time where I was. Even though I knew it wasn't there  I looked up anyway in the search of the sun as I had expected there wasn't any sign of the massive burning star. There were only the endless storm clouds of war  I continued  to stare at the gray storm as I sat down on a clean patch of grass  and enjoyed the remaining silence the silence here felt  quite rare even thought I knew this place worked like clock it was as if someone

had been pushing rewind and the fast forward button multiple times over. Nothing here can happen once and not happen more than twice.  And it seemed like a curse I can see and remember all that I had done wrong in my life. The pain I caused sometimes I think I was here by mistake even though I make it seem dreadful but this is heaven and I know and hope I'm  just dreaming when I wake I will see it’s beauty once again.

I awoke to shining glimmer of the moon's light beaming through my bedroom window.I was quite amazed how something so far away can give off so much light. After a while I look around my room amazed how every corner and edge, floorboard and wall was filled with the moon's light until it was inches  from the doorway. curious I climbed out of my bed as I readied myself to run I took a deep breath then exhaling slowly than I charged into the dark strip of shadow covering the doorway. I closed my eyes tightly preparing to feel uneasy or frightened but I wasn't taking a deep breath once again trying to rid myself of disappointment while I walk slowly back to my small bed. I began to prepare myself to climb onto my twin size bed I was about to step on my stool that I used to get on and off of my un-regularly high bed. As I did this  I heard a loud bubbling come from across my bedroom. At first I was quite startled by the sudden noise that filled the quiet room the had been as quiet as if it were empty. Taking a quick look  around I found was make fringing eruptive sounding vapor my fear quickly became happiness as I rushed to the room nearly slamming into the long end table at the of the room. Taking a deep breath I positioned myself back up all while I examined the small cut I had just given myself wondering how I would explain it to my overprotective aunt. I sat there quietly thinking about how I would come up with an excess that didn't sound as dumb as crashing into a table, pushing the thought out of my mind. I raised from the place I had been resting and gave my body a long stretch as an act to release the build up tension in my muscles. After doing so I make sure I loosened every possible joint I could manage to find, I took another long reassuring breath but not even that could ease my wild mind. My mind felt as if it had been racing in a graceful meadow with young galloping horses, even though it seem odd but whether I liked it or not the mind could take you from your most cherished moments to your most unfavorable ones in a blink of an eye. To be honest this wasn’t what I was interested in but what I was giving heavy thought is to why I felt this feeling of unease. This undesirable feeling of fear seem to have no meaning, everything was so peaceful calm until I looked toward the door that had been swallowed by the moon shadows. A figure stood leaning up against the door the shadows consuming them as if they were a small snack.Even though I couldn't see their eyes of the shadow figure I knew they were looking in my direction. No not in direction I whispered softly to myself but right at me after realizing this I flinched and began to raise myself to my feet as I did this I noticed a shadow cutting through the  moon's light it was if the moon's bright light was my shield trying to protect me from the piercing shadows of the dark. I watched as the figure of the shadow unraveled them to allow the moon's  touch  I turned my eyes back to the figure of the shadows. My eyes had widened in surprise as I watched as the shadows broke away to reveal a young man around the age of ten I watched with curiosity and with a hint of suppression as he began to walk in my direction, eager to know what the young man was intending I lifted my gaze and focused my attention on his eyes, face, and position of his body. I watched in surprise as the young man began to crouch down in front of me. I slowly began to return to studying the young boy to ensure he meant me no harm. As I counted to examine the boy I noticed that he seemed to be overjoyed to see me. I mean it wasn’t that hard to tell from the way his brown eyes sparkled with cheerfulness and how his lips were raised to u shaped smile. Everything seemed to return to its calm nature well at least I thought it did. The calm atmosphere only seemed to last for few seconds before my heart began to pound as if it were beating on a drum. Suddenly my protective shield of moonlight vanished and my bedroom quickly drowned into the darkness that it had left behind. Even though I couldn't see anything I knew the shadows were trying to reach out to me, grab me and pull me down into barrels of the cold darkness they called their home. But I wasn’t very afraid, no that was lie. I was terrified and I grew even more frightened as I felt their icy cold fang-like hands reached toward me. I took a deep breath as they neared me I pushed my hands upward as I exhaled in an effort to fight of the slithering shadows that were now fastly approaching me. I took another deep reassuring in an act to try and ease the tightness in my chest that I soon realized to be caused by my fear choking experience. I tightly began to close my eyes as a way to ready myself for the battle against the snake-like shadows. It felt as if I had been waiting a lifetime for them to land their swarm of attacks. I took one more breath hoping it would act as a boost to my confidence “uh-” I gasped as I made my attempt to fill my lungs with the wonders of the waft that was all throughout the room. I took another worthless fear striking gasped for air as I felt the void like room grow colder. I shivered as I felt the shadows began circling me then they strike. Even though I knew my eyes couldn't possibly be closed any tighter for the fear I may go blind but even though I feared the blindness I also seemed to yearn for it at least in this particular situation. I didn’t want see the vermin shaped shadows or put up with  any longer. I repositioned hands so that it would be easier to shove the shadows away. I felt every possible muscle tighten as I heard the wind screams signaling that shadows were pursuing their attack. I felt my muscles tighten once as I realized that the slithering shadowed creatures grabbing a hold of me. “No” I said quite loudly I know longer wished to toy and fight with these nonexistent abominations that were created due to someone lack of faith in oneself  or a surely pleasant dream turning into a terrifying nightmare as it’s pieces had scattered amongst the ground. I slowly came to realize that everything I had told myself in my own head were possible future assumptions  “No these were some proofless words with lack of meaning they were the exact opposite which meant that my statement was only partly true no these were facts words full of truth and meaning” I said to myself my words full of pride. I straightened up and descended my hands to my sides while I took a well deserved breath of air. After waiting a few seconds I gradually began to open my eyes back up while preceding this action I noticed something or two things for that matter but then I guess that's really up to you decide. One the crazed shadows that were once seeking me out and threatening to get rid of me were now gone which means I must have created them in my fear sate of mind when you disappeared. Two I shouldn't  fear the dark as much as I do because there will always some kind of light to fend it off. “Right” I said with a smile on face as peered toward the window. I watched as the clouds as the shifted to reveal the shiny and glamorous white sphere that was highly known as the moon. “ I guess you're happy with my answers than” I said catching a glimpse of a young boy with black greyish and brown eyes that reminded me of the rich in quality soil my aunt uses in her gardens. “When did you get in here” I asked the boy as I turned my head to get a full view of him my eyes were full of surprise.
