''War. In order to save something dear, wars are waged. The selfish desire of wanting to maintain peace causes wars and hatred is born to protect love. In a time of peace, always be prepared for war. But can you really blame them? The Humans... They seek peace, yet at the same time they yearn for war. Thinking of peace whilst spilling blood is something only they can do. They're two sides of the same coin. To protect something... Another must be sacrificed. They ruin everything they touch, including each other.

Four hundred years ago, I met a man. He called himself The Warlock. But he was no ordinary man. No. I could see in his eyes that he had suffered far greater than any man should. Such pain had caused him to lose his sanity. His ambition to destroy those responsible was rather frightening, yet intriguing. My family and I joined him on his quest of evil and destruction. His enemy...? An ancient race said to have been around before Humans. It was unclear why he carried such hatred for them, but perhaps the story was not meant for Human ears. This man, after all, was no Human. The loss had turned him into a monster, tampering with magics and forces forbidden to mortal hands. However, somehow, he had managed to elude the bounds of mortality...''

Four Hundred years prior to where our story begins...

The moon sat lazily perched behind the twisted tower of the massive castle embedded in the mountain face. A serpentine lake glistened peacefully from the castle’s shadow, few fish gliding through the water. The air remained still and silent, even as the chaos of war disturbed the peace on the opposite side of the mountain’s peak.

Suddenly, the black sky began to stain with a bright orange, grey smoke spewing into the air-

''Edmund!'' came a terrified voice.

''Cassius!'' yelled another, a desperate tone in his breathy voice.

From one of the castle’s smaller towers, a man was dangling from its window, another reaching out holding tightly onto his wrist-

''Don't let go!'' Edmund begged, his long, white hair flying around violently in the wind.

''I'm... Trying!'' Cassius replied insistently.

Explosions rang from the surrounding area, and suddenly, an explosion of fire smashed into the tower opposite them – the tower cracked, creaked and fell to the ground, a mirage of smoke and rubble erupting into the air as the dismantled piece of castle hit the ground. They both stared over at it in terror, the impending danger panicking them both.

''They're coming!'' Cassius warned, panicking.

Edmund shook his head, gritting his teeth, ''I know! Just... Pull me up!''

Cassius struggled, trying to pull his accomplice back through the window. He grunted and flinched with annoyance as his shoulder-length black hair blew across his face, distracting him. A wound on his upper arm bled profusely, growing with his efforts and preventing him from utilizing his full strength. He looked at his accomplice hesitantly as the wound tore, spreading further down his arm.

He glared back, ''don't you... don't let go!''

''I'm sorry!'' Cassius cried.

''No!''

Before Edmund could say anything else, Cassius let go...

Cassius watched in horror as Edmund fell, holding his hand out in desperation. The pain from his wounds was excruciating, but he couldn’t allow that to force him to abandon his friend. He grunted painfully and turned around, leaping up onto the window ledge -

''Edmund!'' he yelled as he dived out.

Falling faster and faster, streamlining his body so that he fell quickly enough to catch up with his friend, he held out his hand, reaching for him. Edmund desperately looked up, also reaching out, but an explosion hit the tower they had just fallen from. It cracked and tumbled, starting to fall and chase after them-

''Ed... Edmund!'' he struggled.

Gasping in panic, Edmund grabbed Cassius’ hand, ''What are you doing?!''

''Don't let go of me!'' Cassius instructed.

Edmund kept hold of Cassius' hand as a thick cloud of black smoke started to surround them both, originating from his back. In just moments, a loud, high-pitched roar filled the air, and from the smoke, a black dragon emerged, Edmund gripping tightly onto its back.

The tower hit the ground as more of the castle started to crumble and break away. From the smoke and flames, more black dragons emerged, flying around like panicked birds in the fire and smoke, aggressively flapping their wings. Edmund stared down at the ground; it was swarming with thousands of people, all surrounded by golden glowing auras. There were black scaled dragons on the ground fighting them, accompanied by smaller white dragons, tearing through the crowds, mowing down their opponents. Fire washed across the land like water, consuming anything in its path.

''We need to land!'' he yelled, but the dragon didn't listen.

They stayed airborne, circling around, watching the battle below. Fear had spread like wildfire, people screaming and running for their lives as the dragons clashed with the aura-covered men. But then, an even louder, higher-pitched screech filled the air, startling the dragon as it wobbled around, struggling to fly straight.

''What is it?!'' Edmund yelled desperately.

The dragon growled lowly - from the clouds above, a strange bat-like monster the same size as the dragon flew down and dug its claws into the dragon’s back-

''CASSIUS!!!'' Edmund yelled as the monster swung around and sank its teeth into the dragon’s neck.

It screamed loudly in agony as the monster let go and backed away.

Edmund turned and glowered at the beast, gritting his teeth in anger - ''you piece of shit!'' he yelled. He jumped from the dragons back as a thick cloud of white smoke suddenly surrounded him – moments later, a white dragon emerged, racing towards the creature, claws and teeth bared. The monster screeched loudly, but the dragon dodged all its strikes. Before the monster could even try to attack again, the dragon flew above it and quickly dived down, grabbing onto its neck with its jaws-

CRACK!!!

The monster fell silent as the dragon let go, leaving its mangled corpse to fall to the ground. But it couldn't rest yet - it dived down, chasing after the black dragon who was also falling, stunned from the monster’s previous attacks. As it raced down, the number of people below was decreasing as the dragons fought them.

Among the black and white dragons were a few other different kinds: there were dragons which looked like they were wearing armor, dark red in color. Some wore a golden color and others dark blue, all fighting together, trying to fend off the huge hordes of men.

The white dragon reached out its front legs and grabbed hold of the black dragon's tail, trying to slow down, just a few meters from the ground. It roared loudly as it struggled, but as they came nearer to the ground, it let go, letting the black dragon rest on the grass. The white smoke appeared around it again, revealing Edmund as it quickly cleared.

''Cassius?!'' he called, panicking as he raced over to the dragon. The wounds on the black dragon’s neck were bleeding viciously, and if Edmund didn’t do anything, his friend would soon bleed out.

''Edmund!'' someone else called.

Edmund quickly looked up and watched as two other white-haired men ran over, followed by another with long black silky hair.

''Quinn! Cedric! Hadrian!'' he called back, sounding relieved.

They all stopped, standing side by side.

''C-Cassius!'' the black-haired man cried as he glared down at the dragon, ''what happened to my brother?!'' he demanded, crouching down beside it and examining the wounds.

''I don't know... we were escaping the castle and some… thing swooped down and attacked us!''

''We are pushing them back, do not worry. Quinn, help Hadrian take Cassius to the ruins'' one of the white-haired men instructed as he stood beside Edmund.

Black smoke began to surround the dragon, quickly clearing and revealing Cassius who was unconscious, his neck and shoulders very badly wounded. Quinn and Hadrian picked him up and began rushing him away back towards the castle.

''That bastard... he'll pay for this!'' Edmund declared.

''He will not win against us''

''Cedric... will he be okay?''

''Do not worry, my friend. He will be fine. We Teshika are strong; stronger than these filthy Warlocks''

Edmund stared at Cedric: he looked proud and determined, exactly the way a leader should look. Without Cedric, this battle could have been lost.

Edmund grinned, ''he thinks he can beat us?''

''Do not get cocky, this battle is far from over. This may be the first of many to come, but at least every Teshika clan has come together to fight him. We, as one, are a force to be reckoned with. Come, Edmund, we need you on the front lines''

The two men then quickly rushed off, heading back towards the huge war zone, explosions and the roars of dragons echoing in the distance. But as they left, watching from one of the last standing towers of the huge, fallen castle was a cloaked figure, glaring down at the devastation below. His bright yellow eyes shined brightly as he scowled in anger. His pupils were like daggers, thin and slit.

The wind raced past him, making his cloak fly around violently. His long white hair flowed out from his hood as he stood there. Clenching his fist, he growled quietly, ''I need... to be stronger'' he muttered, gritting his teeth in anger. Then, he turned around and walked away, vanishing into the darkness as the battle raged on.
