I'm not saying what news story inspired this poem but it shouldn't be too hard to guess.

A Game Of Risk

It’s kind of like a game of Risk that some boys like to play,

maybe there are some girls to, I’ve said it now, okay!

It’s based upon world dominance, plans put in without delay

to see which of the players will obtain the greatest sway.

My weapons are the greatest, the best you’ll ever get.

They’re ready to be targeted, but it hasn’t happened yet.”

Don’t you go making idle threats or you will force my hand.

I’ll launch my weapons straight at you – spread war across the land.”

And so they sit there plotting, working on some strategy,

but this is not some board game but the world of you and me.

The existence of such power held by these two boy-men

could bring about destruction, the like that won’t be seen again.
