STEPHEN WALFISH

She quickly put the frozen food packages into the freezer. Everything else was left on the  counters for unpacking later.
Stephen, her three year old son was awaiting her in the car, and she could see him in the drive-up through the kitchen window. He was playing with the toy steering wheel that his father had fastened to the dashboard of the car.

When my cousin glanced out the window again, her heart stopped.

The car was moving. Stephen had released the car’s handbrake, and the vehicle was moving slowly backwards down the drive towards the street. She cried out to him.

Frightened, Stephen grabbed at the car door handle, lifted himself out and ran to the back of the moving car, and in doing so, opened the gates to heaven.
