Essay

At our school, students have to do volunteer work. They can choose what they want to do, as long as it isn’t at a commercial business environment.

First of all, when students do volunteer work, they can learn from it. This is good for their mental development.

Secondly, by doing volunteer work, students will get working experience. Let’s say a student wants to do something with animals. By doing volunteer work at an animal shelter, they will get experience in working with animals. This can help them later in life.

Thirdly, if students have do to volunteer work, they can get away from the stress that school can cause for them. Volunteer work will give them other things to think about, so they don´t have to worry about homework, for example.

On the other hand, if students have to do volunteer work on top of their regular school work. It can cause a lot of stress, because they will have so much to do.

Also, if students like the volunteer work a lot, they can become careless about school, because they would rather work than study in school. This could result in bad grades, or in the worst case scenario, no diploma.

We think it´s a good thing that high school students have to do volunteer work. While it could be stressful, or cause them to become careless about their school work,  high school students will get experience from volunteer work, which can help them later in life. It´s also good for their mental development.
