Breakup Chronicles

Don’t return the gifts

Just keep them

I already know how this goes

You’ll return the things

I’ll burn them

I’ve been through this before

I’ll see you at some parties

Won’t stand to see your face

Pray for your death

But all the while

Wish you were at my place

Then months go by

I talk to friends

I slowly get over you

I stand on stage

You look away

The things that I’ve been through

I’m swarmed by fans

My name is known

Who’d thought I’d be this man

You look away

And keep your distance

Afraid of who I am

But why should I

Rub it in

The process is done by June

I’m not who I

Used to be

Do you regret leaving so soon?

So, the final steps are here

Where you barely

Cross my mind

You remind me to love

My loved ones now

My life these days is fine

So, the moral of the story

Is to never regret a love

If you love them

When they’re there with you

Don’t miss them when they’re gone
