It’s warm and smells of rain

I blink trying to see through the fog

My eyes feel strained

My friends say this is wrong

But I can’t seem to pull away

I can hear his beautiful song

I dance, side to side, I sway

In this moment I feel no shame

My heart feels almost tame

In his arms in the dead of night

With no one watching, just out of sight

Who’s to say what’s really wrong or right

He makes me feel strong

A feeling I’ve wanted for so long

To feel as if I can be me

And not be afraid to let someone see

Should I care that no one else believes

In what me and him could achieve

Should I care that they’ll never accept a man like him?

Because he comes from a life that is much more grim

My friends say this is wrong

That I will see,  it won’t take long

For me to see through the fog

But tonight I don’t care, tonight…

This feels right

It’s warm and smells of rain

Together we dance, with no shame

Our hearts filled with a passionate flame
