This is a poem I wrote after moving away for college. It started out being called winter break, but I made it a bit more general.

I get to return home soon.

I'll hear the waves crash against the sand.

I get to see my best friend, Linda, soon.

I'll be able to hug her and hold her bony hand.

I get to see my family soon.

I'll be able to sleep in my own soft memory foam bed,

I get to be in Chicago soon.

I'll have the sights and sounds fill my head.

I get to be in my city soon.

I’ll hear a little less traffic and noise.

I get to see my puppy moxie soon.

I’ll play with her and her cute little toys.

I get to be in my apartment soon.

I‘ll eat my mom’s delicious home cooked meals.

I get to see my niece, Alex, soon.

I’ll run with her and hear her adorable squeals.

I get to be home soon.

I'll feel happy, as I'll be with those I hold dear.

I have to come back too soon.

I'll be forced to return to school here.

I do like it here; my life is good,

But it's not the same as my home neighborhood.
