America from the outside looks nice and shiny,

Like a nice present wrapped up,

With little bows and promises of happiness,

America from the outside looks nice and shiny,

But the inside is rotten,

With poverty, racism and loneliness.

In America we have a place for everyone,

A place where people are equal ,

Where everyone is free and alive,

In America we have a place for everyone,

Internment camps, slums, and cells,

Where people face discrimination in all forms.

America, the land of the brave and the free,

A place to be happy,

To have a family and live prosperously,

America, the land of the brave and the free,

A place of tears,

To have many struggles while supporting a family.

America... from the outside looks nice and shiny ,

Like a nice present wrapped up,

With little bows and promises of happiness,

America… looks perfect but is not,

Is full of unhappiness and no bows,

Inside has rotten people and rotten ideals,

America the place everyone wants to go,

America where people want to escape,

America the land of the free and shamed,

AMERICA... our home.

An unusual poem being written from opposing views. Nice work!
