A war. Bullets rained down on the concrete building. Catherine wasn’t scared. Dilapidated pieces of the old building fell and almost knocked her head, but she didn’t even flinch. Everyone she knew was dead. For all her bad luck, it was amazing she was still alive. God, it was miraculous anybody was alive, let alone the self-proclaimed ‘Bad Luck Charm’. Her arm was burned, her hair sloppily cut and bruises littered her legs, but she was alive and healthy. It was a magical sight from where she was sitting. Jagged slashes adorned the walls next to her, light shone on her back, showing off her aqua hair, and a balcony right behind her. Kids’ muddy footprints ran from the kicked-in door to the balcony. Light had faded the old drawings on the scratched up walls. Miniature action figures were strewn across the floor, covered in a light layer of dust. Nobody had been in to clean up the room in a long time. Obviously, it was a child’s room, and Catherine knew whose. Penelope’s. Queen Zoe had ordered the beheading of Penelope, just because Penny was a mutant. Right now, the war was raging on outside, all because of a few genetically engineered mutants. Sad really, how a few close-minded individuals could exterminate a race just because they think they are a threat. The mutants were smarter and faster than the average human, but they were completely passive.

Ultra violet light scanned over Penelope’s room, looking for humans to kill. Violent humans would be cleansed, mutants would be captured and passive humans would be killed, just to be safe. When Catherine would eventually die, her body would be donated to the underground science unit, the government would never take her, dead or alive. Xavier, the leader of the science unit, would use her DNA to finally defeat the government. Yearning for darkness, Catherine stood and moved into the corner, knowing it was time. Zoe stepped over the door and faced Catherine, going into a fighting stance.
