Born in New York City, New York, on March 31, 1943, Christopher Walken has been a famed actor throughout the history of film. However, as a child, he had been in children’s theater. Soon after, Walken was promoted to general theater as a young adult theater actor. In 1978, Walken made his film debut in ‘The Deer Hunter’. Though born to Scottish and German minorities, Walken prevailed in acting. His parents Rose and Paul Walken supported him his entire life.
Walken furthered his acting career when he starred in the 1981 film, ‘Pennies from Heaven’. In 1983, Walken played the role of a dark toned character in the film, ‘Dead Zone’, based on a novel by Stephen King. Then, in 1985, he portrayed a villainous businessman named Max Zorin in the classic 007 film, ‘A View to Kill’. He also had been in films of the 1990s including ‘Mouse Hunt’ (1997), the Wayne’s World films, and ‘Batman Returns’, the 1992 sequel to ‘Batman’ (1989). In that sequel, he played secondary villain Max Shrek working with its main villain, The Penguin, played by Danny DeVito. In 1998’s animated film flop and ripoff of the Disney Pixar animated movie ‘A Bug’s Life’, ‘Ants’, he voiced the evil ant leader, Colonel Cutter. This was the year before he massacred and beheaded the residents of Sleepy Hollow as The Headless Horseman in ‘Sleepy Hollow’, directed by Tim Burton. That film had come out in 1999.
The following decade, Walken played a crime lord in Australia named Salvatore Smith Salas in the 2003 film, ‘Kangaroo Jack’. He also had been in 2006’s “Click’, starring Adam Sandler, the 2007 Broadway musical based film, ‘Hairspray’, and a Chinese ping pong champion in ‘Balls of Fury’ (2007). It is very clear he has family in California esp. siblings of his. But, Walken soon had been diagnosed with polio, regarding its terrible symptoms that affected him. Yet, this today does not stop him from acting in film.
In the 2011 film flop, ‘Dark Horse’, Walken played a fictional character named Jackie. He also played Gypsy DeCarlo in the 2014 Broadway musical based film, ‘Jersey Boys’. Walken 2 years later played the role of a cat obsessed old man named Felix Perkins supporting and aiding a businessman played by Kevin Spacey bodily transferred as a cat to spend more time with his family in the 2016 family comedy film, ‘9 Lives’. Prior to this, Walken did an outstanding performance as the voice of the humongous King Louie in Disney’s hit 2016 live action film, ‘The Jungle Book’. This role he will no doubt reprise in the future sequel to ‘The Jungle Book’ titled ‘The Jungle Book: Reign of King Louie’, which will focus solely on a reformed King Louie whose story is explored before and after the events of the popular live action Disney film.
In 2014, Walken played Captain Hook in the live NBC performance of ‘Peter Pan’. Not only will Walken play a stubborn grandfather in the future 2017 comedy film, ‘War with Grandfather’, but also will he voice an evil intelligent gorilla known as Grodd in the future film, ‘The Flash’. Today, Walken despite his diagnosis of polio performs iconic film roles.
