Puppeteers

Sit in your corner and you just sit tight,

to do any more will just cause a fight.

When you are wanted we’ll pull on those strings

and that’s when the fun, it really begins.

For one will tug one way, one will pull another,

determined to get some advantage or other.

You’ll feel yourself splitting, breaking in half,

a sign of distress – well, that brings forth a laugh.

We’ll dangle and tangle and mangle your strings,

you won’t know what you’re doing with so many things.

But make sure you stay silent, don’t utter a word;

unless you are questioned ensure you’re not heard.

Do what you are told and button your lip;

being pulled back and forth, we’ll make certain you trip.

Then once it is done and your tasks are complete

we’ll toss you away just to land in a heap.

Crawl back to your corner, await further instructions,

to do any more – well, it just causes destruction.

You’ll know when you are needed, when the tugging begins

so be ready to carry out so many things.

A puppet that malfunctions is one that is trash,

and broken down toys will be turned into ash!
