The benefits of aromatherapy are known to many and are yet to be applied by many. Solutions to various skin and hair problems can be found in the usage of different essential oils. So here’s a quick guide to some of the essential oils available easily online or at your nearest aromatherapy store.

1. Avocado oil– 

A very good skin rejuvenator, anti-aging component,  avocado oil is a natural moisturizer too. It can also be used as a cure for infections. 

2. Lavender oil

It is very useful for curing acne, dandruff and hair-fall. Has antiseptic properties, works as an antioxidant and has detoxifying elements.

3. Lemongrass oil

It can be naturally used as a shampoo, astringent or moisturizing lotion. Helps in removing blackheads and acne, controls hair sebum and maintains the natural hair conditioning system. 

4. Tea- tree oil– 

It has antiviral and antifungal properties. It helps in fighting acne and useful for people having oily skin and pimples and also helps in fighting body odour. It fights hair-fall, dandruff and lice too.

5. Eucalyptus oil– 

It contains cooling and antiseptic properties.  When mixed with sweet almond oil and coconut oil acts as a very good body massage oil. If paired with olive oil helps in increasing blood circulation of the scalp.

6. Orange essential oil-

It is beneficial for acne prone skin. It works an anti aging substance due to the presence of collagen and Vitamin C. It helps in removing fine lines and wrinkles but it is advisable to do a patch test before using this essential oil. You can also use this as an exfoliater.

7. Peppermint/ Mint essential oil-

It is rich in Vitamin A, C, Omega 3, Fatty acid and many more essential nutrients. It restores dull and damaged skin and controls acne and blemishes. You can use it as a scrub by mixing few drops of mint oil to olive oil and some salt. You can also make a toner at home by mixing mint oil with apple cider vinegar which works well for all skin types. It is useful for scalp oil control too and helps strengthening if hair roots. It also hydrates dry scalp and stops hair-fall.

8. Rosemary oil-

Rich in iron, Vitamins and antioxidants it works as a cleanser for all skin types. It helps in cell regeneration and getting rid of wrinkles and spots. It also has anti aging properties.  It stimulates hair follicles and boosts hair growth and acts as a conditioner also.

9. Jojoba oil-

It has anti bacterial and anti inflammatory agents. It has Vitamin A and E that help in controlling acne. It is also a very good moisturizer and a hair growth inducer. You can use this every day after bath to have clear and problem free skin.

10. Carrot-seed oil-

It is important for skin rejuvenation. It has anti aging properties and anti oxidants. It contains Vitamin E and C that help in moisturizing your skin. It is useful for sensitive skin and it helps restore the natural pH balance of the skin. It protects your skin from pollution and stress.

11. Sandalwood essential oil-

It is useful for treating skin infections. It helps soothe itching and lightens spots. It works as a skin toner, astringent and anti aging element. Its anti-septic properties helps in keeping body odour at bay.
