Faulty

Reading over everything,

Finding it’s all so far from fine,

Looking hard for those mistakes --

They make up a long line.

Which word should I really use,

How to make them say

Exactly what I want them to?

No answers come today.

A full stop here, a comma there,

Perhaps a semi-colon would be best;

I’m being ultra-critical

And I’m failing every test.

My confidence has left me,

I’m not sure what I am doing

Is ever really good enough

To post for others viewing.

Once I begin examining,

There will be so little left

I might as well just give up now

And spend my life bereft.

But then I give myself a kick,

I’ll give my head a shake;

I’ll just take the criticism

That others choose to make.

You see, I really love to write,

A fever’s taken over me,

The words just keep on pouring,

An integral part of me.
