A Letter from Heaven

Dear Mother,

I have written you

this letter

So as to inform you that I will be traveling back

Home

from

Heaven.

For, I have grown tired of waking up to angels

singing

rather than the sound of the neighbors

fighting over who has to take the kids to school today,

For, I have grown tired of floating on

clouds

rather than walking

on my own feet

For, I have grown tired of everyone being so polite

to me

rather than hearing you yell at me in the morning

to come down and eat breakfast

And most of all,

all my friends leave me

after a while,

in Heaven

They all write their Mothers a letter,

To inform them that they’re coming back

Home.

And then they leave me

To either fly around the

world,

In an airplane powered by the feathers of an eagle,

Or to crawl through the cracks of homes,

With whiskers

And a button nose

Others try other things,

Of course

These are just a few

But, I write you this letter

Dear Mother,

So that when I come

Back

You’ll look out for me

But who knows,

maybe on

good solid earth, I won’t be so

alone.

With much love,

your Dearly

departed.
