I was able to say I was okay last night. I was with you and we were holding hands while we sang to our song that just so happened to come on the radio. The windows were rolled down and there was a slight crisp in the April air. The smell of fresh cut grass and your cologne filled my lungs as we drove down the road that connected my neighborhood to the windy backroads. It was the first time I felt sane in a year. The way your laugh made my blood circulate throughout my body, and your eyes made my heart beat just a little faster to remind me that I was still a living being. The wind blew in your hair and covered my arms in goosebumps. I noticed you squeezed my hand a little tighter, almost as if you were trying to stop the cold from taking over my body. Now I'm alone and it was all just a dream. I can only think about last night, when I dreamt of me and you. The night you held my hand and made me laugh. The night we sang to each other. The night you made me feel like I had a reason to stay alive. And I thank you for existing and coming into my life because without you, I would have put the bullet in my head a long time ago. Last night was when I realized that you are my safe spot. No matter where we are, I'm okay when I'm next to you. I never knew someone could be the reason I'm alive, but because of last night and the way you looked into my eyes, I realized that life is more valuable when I'm next to you, and I never want to let go of you, even if it's all just a dream.
