Cry God for Harry, England and St George

Raise a glass of ale or cup of tea.

Let's hear it for everything English

From the rain to Let It Be.

Here's to England's poets and writers

They exceeded our great expectations

The rest of the world were moved by

The literature of this small nation.

Terry Pratchett and Tolkien

And a Doctor who never dies

Jean Luc Picard in Star Trek

And The Hitchhikers Guide.

And what about the food?

Fish and chips, meat and potato pie

Roast dinners with Yorkshire puds

Full English breakfast, toast on the side.

Clapton, Oasis, the Rolling Stones

Beatles Sgt Pepper and Rubber Soul

What they called the British Invasion

We called rock and roll.

Cricket at Lords and Wimbledon

Andy Murray and Man United

Hatton, Cooper, Nicola Adams

Touch gloves and come out fighting.

The Goon show on the BBC

Stan Laurel and Charlie Chaplin

Victoria Wood's Two Soups

And Monty Python had us laughing.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth

Royal weddings and waving flags.

Red sun burn on holiday

Bringing back 200 fags.

Let's celebrate everything English

The Lakes and rolling hills

Old wives magpie superstitions

A cup of tea cures all ills.

The twenty third of April is for everyone

No matter where you're from

I'm having an old fashioned street party

Why don't you come along?

Cry God for Harry, England and St George

God Save the Queen said Johnny Rotten

Raise a glass for this England of ours

May it never be forgotten.
