The rushing stream has come to tell me its many mysteries
It sweeps me up like a breeze, taking me into the farthest spaces
Where possibility lives. Where everything begins. Where life is dead, but is birthed again.
I am its passenger, always willing, always cognizant
The rushing stream takes me to the infinite corners
Where everything is dark. Where everything is a mystery. Like the deep sea.
But I am not scared
I can see life begin in the dark. A bright light and a silent bang
Do I have the potential to be a silent bang? Do I hold the potential to create a silent bang?
Only I can know
The rushing stream sweeps me back home
Where everything is familiar. Where everything lives in light.
It is a sharp contrast to the dark, a harsh adjustment to my vision
Neither feels more alive
Life is all around me, but in the rushing stream is where I live
It’s where I fly
Where possibility lives. Where everything begins. Where life is dead, but is birthed again.
It is the dominion where you will find me

This was a really moving poem, Jeff. 'Where everything is dark. Where everything is mystery.' 'Where life is dead, but is birthed again.' These two parts especially seem really strong to me.
A definite one to shelve!
Great thoughts Jeff. An emotional ride, being swept away yet recognising it's not the end, yet a new beginning.
Consciousness is one of those subjects that is really fascinating, mostly because it is shrouded in mystery and there are plenty of different ideas and definitions of it. No one can really quite agree on what it really is. I think that this was a really great poem, the subject is very abstract and has a lot of different ways to interpret it. Great work!
Thank you very much!
I agree. Consciousness is like living art - everyone has a different interpretation of it that's largely based on their understanding of it. Something so broad is always difficult to narrow down to a specific concept, but it doesn't need to fit into a box. Consciousness is not something that can be boxed in anyways; it's something that lives through us and lives because of us.
Thank you again for reading and for your marvelous comment! :)
I think you're not truly concious until you are facing the unknown, far from your comfort zone. Because it's then when you can utilize all of your senses and listen well to your instincts. But as Nik said, conciousness is something quite vast that we know too little of. And even when we do explore its notions, we will end up with many theories and interpretations. Maybe this layer of mystery and the ability to freely interpretate it are what make conciousness so fascinating. :)
Consciousness is about awareness, so you don't necessarily need to be facing the unknown. Sometimes, if you travel too far from your comfort zones and become embroiled in fear, you lose awareness of your consciousness and drown in emotion and irrationality. There's definitely a balance that needs to be present when acknowledging consciousness. But it's like breathing, it's always happening even though we're not always paying attention to it.
Consciousness is so abstract and interpretive. Who's right and who's wrong? Some things can't be categorized in terms of right and wrong, and this is one of them. Though, I do think there can be wrong interpretations of consciousness - it's easy to misinterpret various aspects of the psyche and confuse one facet for another. Psychology is so complex! lol
Thank you for reading, my dear! :)
