The water remains crystal clear

yet over it the fog still descends

covering what is uncovered,

making us change our perceptions of it

despite the fact that it is still the water.

we shy away from that we understand

when it is shrouded in something we do not.

because humans are afraid,

afraid that something so simple

can change without warning,

afraid that everything is going to change.

but if the world stays full of fear,

then it will have to.
