Yoga is a physical and meditative spiritual practice from ancient India. In the 1980s, yoga became popular as a system of physical exercise across the Western world. Yoga in Indian traditions, however, is more than physical exercise; it has a meditative and spiritual core. It's exactly the same with sex. Across the Western world it's a physical experience, but in Asia it's also an emotional and spiritual one. Tantric sex is the best example of the oriental way that doesn't separate mind and body like in the west. Which means, we human beings must feel complete, and it's achieved by not separating mind and body. People feel used as sexual objects when their mind is not considered, when only their body is. Let's go back to yoga.

Eva is a yogi, a dedicated yoga practitioner. In reality, she is a yogini, the feminine word for yogi. But I don't know exactly why, this term is not used in the west. Oriental societies are more matriarchal than their counterparts in the west; this is why yogini was just ignored; in the same way, there's no masculine word for priest. This is a patriarchal society heritage that puts feminine and masculine energy out of balance, and leads automatically to conflicts.

If the physical exercise is very popular in the west, it's not the most important part. The most important part is the breathing. Swami Sivananda an authority in the yoga community said:

"A yogi measures the span of life by the number of breaths, not by the number of years."

Breathing calm and relax you; this is what help connect body and mind. Performing the exercises without breathing would not make any sense; it would be aerobic or gym, nothing more. It's like with love:

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye." (The Little Prince)

What is invisible is always the essential, the most important part. It's true with love, with yoga, with music, and with God.

Before having an interest in yoga, Eva had a "Harsh Time". She had been "The Heartbreak Kid" raised in a dysfunctional and violent family. At some point her dad left her mother and she grew up "Without Men" at home as a teenager. She then experienced many "Crazy Kind of Love" with violent boyfriends who abused and beat her. Her life looked like hell till she discovered yoga.

The "Lower Learning" she got from childhood was then replaced by higher learning from yoga. She had to overcome "A Dark Truth", a family secret kept by her mother that poisoned the life of every member of the family. It was called the "Carlita's Secret" for her mum's name. But "For Greater Glory" and "Out of the Blue", yoga appeared in her life as a miracle, and she became a new person.

I met her in a yoga class some time ago, and found out she was a very interesting person.

"Your body is a vehicle of your emotions and a vehicle of feelings and a vehicle of whatever you need to get done in life. And you've got to take care of that vehicle."

If the body is the vehicle, the emotions and the feelings are the driver. Who is more important? The vehicle or the driver? You can always replace a vehicle (car, bus, motorcycle...). But if you die, you are gone forever, no possible replacement.

"I actually love fish and vegetables. I was raised on vegetables! Anything green - spinach, broccoli, brussels sprouts - I crave."

You have to know that your diet affects your personality. Eating a lot of red meat makes you more violent. If you want to be meditative and a peacemaker looks on the green side of life, it will help you achieve emotional and spiritual balance, peace and love, and ultimately world peace.

"I've always said I want a farmer, not a hunter. Hunters go for the kill and they move on. A farmer nurtures; he watches things grow."

And if you are a plant eater like her (spinach, broccoli, brussels sprouts) you enjoy watching vegetables grow in your garden day after day; this is the miracle of life.

Then she suddenly changed topic and talked about her, being a small latin girl.

"I'm Latina. I was born with high heels. We crossed border in high heels. We were running from immigration...I can do aerobics in heels."

She is short at 5'0.5" (154 cm) only. It's hard to exist in the world at this height without high heels, even if it's bad for your back. She can do aerobics in heels, and she can do yoga too, believe it or not.

"I like being small - I've known so many women with big boobs who feel overweight or end up with back problems."

I don't know if she is talking about being short or having small boobs. Anyway, if she doesn't get back problems for being overweight, she will get it by wearing high heels.

"So, goodnight Eva. It doesn't matter how tall you are. What matters is having your feet on the ground. So please, get rid of the high heels and your feet will make full contact with the energy coming from the ground."
