What is archaeology? This is the study of ancient and recent human past through material remains. Archaeology helps us understand not only where and when people lived on the earth, but also why and how they have lived. Archaeology can be very exciting when mixed with adventure and danger. Here we will talk about the most exciting archaeologist the modern world has known.

Indiana is the archaeologist who risked his life in numerous adventures. He was involved in the Lost Ark, in the Temple of Doom, in the Last Crusade, and in the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. He survived all these adventures and became an hero.

As most scientists he is in conflict with religion and the truth. He often gets involved in fights with religious people for not keeping his mouth shut. He even gets into a fight with his own students whenever they question him and his teaching.

"Archaeology is the search for fact... not truth. If it's truth you're looking for, Dr. Tyree's philosophy class is right down the hall."

In reality, facts are the truth for all the archaeologists. The truth cannot be a concept, an idea, something intangible. Indiana only believes in what can be seen, touched, smelled, heard, and tasted.

"Yes, the actual Ten Commandments, the original stone tablets that Moses brought down from Mt. Horeb and smashed, if you believe in that sort of thing...Didn't any of you guys ever go to Sunday school?"

He is in complete denial. He was the one who chased the Ark; he even fought against the Nazis to get it back. Later he chased the Grail and fought against the Nazis one more time. He was very committed for someone who didn't attend Sunday school. Maybe, he just wanted to prove archaeologically the existence of the Ark and the Grail, to ultimately prove the existence of God himself.

"You want to talk to God? Let's go see him together, I've got nothing better to do."

He had nothing better to do. So, he decided to chase the Ark and the Grail. He also hated the Nazis, it was a good excuse to eliminate them, for the sake of God.

At some point, he found his father who had disappeared a long time ago. And he learned a truth that hurts:

"DON'T call me Junior!"

His dad told him Indiana was the dog's name. He was so proud of his name, Indiana, it was such a disappointment and a great humiliation to have been called all his life with a dog's name. He made his father promise he would never tell anybody about that, so his reputation would be safe.

"Nothing shocks me. I'm a scientist."

He has seen everything, touched everything, smelled everything, heard everything, and tasted everything... Even electroshocks don't shock him. It's no surprise he feels confident enough to deny the existence of God and put himself on the same level.

But once, he was told something that sent him back to earth:

"I keep telling you, you listen to me more, you live longer!"

From this day he stopped to deny the existence of God. As I said earlier, archaeology is the study of human past, not God past. Their studies don't focus on God, theology does. But theologists don't look for material remains to prove the existence of God. They study and believe blindly in the bible and sacred texts. I just think that it is not possible to prove the existence of God. Archaeologists get somehow frustrated at the passivity of the theologists who accept the truth blindly, and never look for facts.

Indiana Jones 5 is coming. It seems that he is going to live much longer as he listens more. But wait a minute!... Who is he listening too? Who said?: "I keep telling you, you listen to me more, you live longer!"

Indiana won't admit it, but it was God who talked to him in his dream. It's the way God communicates with the humans. But it's not a proof of the existence of God. Some people say it was just a dream, it was your own imagination. And if you say that it was God, they won't take you seriously. God has a way to confuse people from the beginning of humanity. He is the best illusionist the world has ever seen. Actually,... an illusionist the world has never seen, as it happened in your dreams.

"So, goodnight Indiana. If God really talk to people through their dreams, I guess he is a dream-maker."
