Simon And Garfunkel: Sound Of Silence lyrics:

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence

"Fools" said I
"You do not know, silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed
In the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the signs said
"The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whisper'd in the sounds of silence

NOT S & G--"Sound Of Screaming"

We seem to think we just can't win,
afraid of our shadow again
because paranoia softly creeping
took its root while I was sleeping
and the visions that were planted in our brains
so insane,
echo the sound of screaming

yes, nightmare scenes abound
in the narrative they've found
the media's who I mean
I turn my eyes from the endless scenes
of chaos from around the globe

that so define
the sound of screaming

And in the T. V.'s light I saw
millions of people maybe more
People reacting without listening
people watching without seeing
people posting thoughts that never do ring true
'cause no one bothered do
the homework to understand

"Fools,' said I "you do not know,

waiting for the final blow"
take my eyes so you can see what to do
Take my arms that I might reach you
but what's real still hidden by our fear
and echoes

the sound of screaming

And the Kool-Aid's running deep,
into your mind the fear does creep
and the networks scream out their warning,
and the narrative that they're forming,
say 'stay glued right here
'cause this very well could be the end
and that all depends
on our sound of screaming'
