Dazzled

It happened in an instant,

He was dazzled by her charms;

It never did occur to him

That she could mean him harm.

Her hair was like a golden river

And her skin was soft and smooth,

She set his world to shimmering

When she began to move.

Her voice, when she did say his name,

Was gentle and sublime,

Whenever he was near her

He forgot about the time.

She was like some kind of goddess

And became his one obsession --

Would it ever come to pass

That her allure would lessen?

He could not be without her

And would follow her around,

He never knew it happened,

But he stepped on enchanted ground.

And now in the land of Faerie

He will forever dwell.

Will he come to have regrets?

Who can ever tell!

For this man had been dazzled

By one of the Seelie Fae,

And neither now will age again

Not even by a day!

Should he leave enchanted land

His real age would then flood

He’d crumple to a pile of ash,

No longer flesh and blood.
