Weeping under a willow tree

A poem by Gaia of Autumnia

I sneak outside
while everybody sleeps
I go in the middle of the night
to think under a tree that weeps

I can let my thoughts go
Here under this crying tree
The other kids think I'm a weirdo
I sometimes agree

Maybe I shouldn't care
They might be right
A girl with long hair
sitting here in the middle of the night

Under this willow
I can let my emotions flow
Under this tree in the meadow
Sitting here in the shadow

Tonight the tree weeps
And I cry
I have to grow up with leaps
It is something I cannot deny

Nobody should care what I do tonight
They should just let me be
Sitting here by moonlight
I, myself and me
