Made you click now didn't I, apologies on the click bait I promise you that I will get you to the main points. These are all just my views and feel free to comment/argue/disagree/roll eyes. So please just bear with me.

So Porn, what is it? I am talking about videos of people doing sexual acts and not the new age jargon of something-porn(eg, food porn). It is the top searched topics on the internet. It is what every man -I believe it is every - has watched at a certain time of his life or has not stopped watching. It has started since ancient times, when men first began to draw, porn was born. This act of reproduction is being shown on videos in the modern day and men and women included watch it. Why? What is the allure? Science has shown that watching porn activates the pleasure center of the brain and releases something called dopamine into our system. This makes us feel ecstatic and slowly over time it becomes an addiction. It becomes something that we crave whenever we feel stressed or down. Given even more time, this becomes a habit and soon we can't stop watching because we just want to feel good no matter what. This damaging side effect of porn is however not what I want to talk about. I want to present a point about a possible good takeaway we can have from porn.

What sort of positive impact can we take away from Porn? No, not the feel good and rush of excitement which leads to an orgasm. Rather, I would like to speak out on the way porn separates us from being quick to stereotype people. First off, porn looks at the person as an individual and not as someone with a race or specific traits. Sure you can argue that porn sites usually have different races or categories of women or men and that itself is a segregation. Well, I would like to refute that we all have an opinion on what constitutes a beauty however we are not so much with what race the person is but more into what the person does. For example, -pardon me but I will try to be as non explicit as possible- you can watch a video about a beautiful person showing some skin and another not so beautiful person doing some sexual acts. Ultimately the one that interests you more or makes you want to watch more will be the one where it is more hardcore. Thus, we care to a certain extent about the looks of the person in question but it is the acts that a person does that makes us hooked. This in turn changes the way our mind look at porn stars or the people featured in the videos. We do not have a thinking that all blondes tend to do a particular act, or that all brunettes prefer to do another type of act or that Asians only do a certain type of act. We just see them as the individuals that they are and they are defined by the acts that they do on screen. Now, if only we could apply this to how we see others in the real world as well, would stop stereotyping people according to their races and instead look at their actions and see that it is an individual and not the race.

To see people as an individual will be hard because the media cherry picks the news and tends to show a particular group of people committing a particular act of crime and this slowly conditions us to stereotype people. So the other positive aspect of porn is that it shows you everything. It does not cherry pick the content and provides you with all the information that you want, that you desire. Of course, here arises an argument that we still do click and choose the type of acts that we want to see or a certain type of people with certain traits or people with different races in videos that we want to view. This argument will be valid if not for the fact that by clicking a certain category, for example outdoors - I am trying to keep it as clean as possible, it does not represent my fetishes- we are shown tons of videos of people from all ages, sizes, races doing these acts outdoors. The same goes for if we were to click teens, we are shown videos of teens doing all kinds of acts and not any particular act. From this, I would like to say that many news or media outlets could learn a thing or two about giving information. By giving information to the masses in such a view, we get to see that people from all races do all kinds of things and that there is no specific race which is solely responsible for the acts. Sure, the search engine can search for more specificity, like teens outdoors, and I do not deny that it may then seem to the person who is always looking at such videos to think that all teens like to do it outdoors. What we must take note however is that firstly he has a choice to search in such specificity which means that deep down he knows it is biased. Unlike the media or news which shows and forces you to see only what they want you to see, in which it is easier to believe that it has and will be always the same type of people doing the same type of things. Furthermore, when he cannot finds what he is looking for, he will go back to his most preferred and general category which is either teens or outdoors and from there he knows that it is not connected to any particular type.

Lastly, porn can show us that no matter what type of fetishes that we have, we are not alone and that we do not need to be guilty not feeling normal looking at some fetishes. Of course I still do not condone child pornography or other types of porn that is non-consensual to the parties involved. So porn has evolved to so many fetishes today, we have really extreme acts like bondage, dominatrix or even defecation. With these types of videos out, to many it will seem weird and most will not be looking at them yet there are still communities out there that produce such videos and people who watch and enjoy them. This allows the once repressed or ashamed individual who enjoys such extreme porn to feel that he is not a freak of nature or that there is anything wrong with him. With the general population getting to know more about such acts, it is getting more and more acceptable and one party in the relationship with such fetishes is not being seen as a weird person and is able to talk openly to the other. This has allowed for society to grow in a way to accept individuals who prefers different things from the majority to feel more at ease and to be more truthful. Knowing of communities who have vastly different preferences than us allows us to broaden our minds. We can then slowly accept people who are different from us not just by the porn fetishes that they have but maybe to other aspects of their lives. It works well for both sides, the people who have these fetishes and for people who do not have.

In closing, I do understand that the negative aspects of porn still far outweighs the positive and this may just be a weak attempt to try to show porn in a different light. The main points to takeaway here if anything would be that we should stop stereotyping people and see specific acts as it is from an individual, the media could help us a lot in trying to show us unbiased view of people and that there are different people with different tastes which we could all be open and accepting of.
