Chapter 1

A Week Before

Ellie had discovered that in her maths class there are only 6 girls and 3 of them, Ghazal, Stella and she also had the same Science and English classes. Because they all sat together they chatted easily and Ellie now had her first actual friends and bonus points for her that they were female! Stella was a fussy eater and liked sticky notes. She was unsure what Harry Potter House she was sorted into, but she believed Hufflepuff. She was also starting to learn guitar. She came from Rose Park. Ghazal was a Ravenclaw and liked sleeping. She came from St Josephs. All three of them were in SHIP maths (the advanced). Nathan Luo, Liam McCarthy, Mereki Solding and Leo Zimmermann were also there from Marryatville Primary School. This was her first lesson to use her laptop, as she had had to download GeoGebra. Other than that, they didn’t do anything but get the maths year 8 textbooks.

Throughout lunch, she hung out with Stella and her friends Georgia and Katherine, also May, but she came and went. Georgia and Katherine were friendly (yes bias to Stella as they knew her) and they were confident and non-caring about being judged so Katherine lay on Stella and Stella was singing along to music. A good bunch of pleasant girls.

After School, she had her outside of school commitment, Australian Girls’ Choir. After spending three years in the third level, she’d finally gotten up to the second level. Although the girls she grew up with in the choir had either quit or were in the top level, she felt incredibly happy to know that her best friend in the choir and possibly in her life was still there in her second year of the second level. Although it was voice placement and everyone had to sing solo, this brought Ellie to release the talent she had although daily she denied such talent. It also made her feel good that the Glenelg girls came to be in the second level, new voices and new people. Course her besties in the choir, Jasmine and Brooke were and hopefully would always be by her side.
