Chapter one: The Key.

Johnathan woke up, eyes heavy with sleep. He rubbed his face, his small goatee brushing against his face. His feet were hanging of his bed. He was taller than the average american. Six foot seven. Five inches above average. Yawning, he woke up. Tired. He thought. He looked through the window. It was still dark. He stumbled to the other side of the room, where  a small 5x5 square sat in the window. What to wear. He pondered. After a minute, he called out with a deep voice, raspy with sleep
“Blue.”
There was a slight humming sound as the machine worked its magic. A blue pill appeared out on thin air, along with a glass of water. Time to get dressed. Johnathan popped the pill in his mouth, and took a sip of water. He felt his skin tingle as his blue standard issue jumpsuit melted over his large frame. He then took his personal effect and wrapped it around his neck. During the second american civil war, a law was made so that the only clothes that anyone can where were  jumpsuits, put into pills, to make it easier to put on. You were allowed one personal effect to were in public, and they are sold in stores dotted across the American Empire. Most of the shops carries small hankerchiefs or bracelets, and sometimes necklaces. The necklaces were not manufactered by factories, and were made in the 21st century. Only the obsenely rich could afford them. But some can make their own effects. This was illegal, but was not very enforced, so many people make them with string and household objects. Johnathan himself has a homemade necklace. It was made with yard and some weird object he found in his late father’s room. It was a plactic case with a switch, which after some research, he found out was a 21 century tool used to turn on small things, like lights. When the switch was pressed foward, a metal bar with some complex carvings on it. Johnathan rubbed his stomach. He was hungry. He stumbled downstairs, where his breakfast sat. Seaweed stripps and water. Delicious. After his food was forcibly choked down his throat, he said “A.L.E.X, is there any events set for today.”
“Yes Johnathan, there are 3 events today.
There is a test today at the universitiy”
He knew there was a test. Empire history.
“There is also your job interview at the Museum of Emperor Denzs.”
“Cancel it.”
“Yes, sir.”
“And?"
“Today is the deadline for your eviction. If you do not leave...”
“I will be kicked out, yes.”
Johnathan sighed. He had been behind on his payments, and now the past has come back to haunt him. Or the IRS has. Johnathan chuckled. His laughter was interrupted by a tap on the door. Well, time to go. Said Johnathan.  He told A.L.E.X to take all his things and pill it. When he needed furniture, he would put a drop of water on it and the furniture would shrink or expand to fit the room. He stuck the blue pill in his pocket. Time to go.
