How the mountains gloriously rise!

But in my veins the ocean lies,

The deep does call my soul,

And the snow makes not me whole.

See the waves make their tremendous crash,

The gulls swoop, and the otters splash,

Here the Sun shines so bright,

Shines with might, illuming my life.

What is that I do hear?

'Tis the mountains, calling for my heart,

Which once they held.

Where will I go?

Where does my soul ache to be?

Will I go to the mountains,

Where so long I have dwelt?

Nay, for another holds my heart,

One whose salt and water I bleed,

One whose windy shores wholly gladden me.

The Sea calls, and to the Sea I go.
