Life after death, religion, good and evil, right and wrong, come to find out it was all skewed to hell. The fringe theorists were the closest to having it all figured out, but what difference does it make now? The search for our purpose, our origins, our creators, it was all just a fruitless endeavor this whole time. Pointless, just wasted energy and wasted breath, not to mention a shit load of wasted lives, billions of them.

No one could blame us for being curious though, we didn’t know any better. We just had that yearning to learn all there was to learn about life and death, to find out who our masters were, hell, it was wired into our circuits so to speak. They wanted us to seek them out. They wanted us to come home. They needed their slaves back to serve them again. Sadly, many humans decided to take that route. Me, I did at one time, before I knew the whole truth. Now I just try to stay alive.

My name’s Alex Webb and I’m forsaken, one of the leftovers not worthy enough to go to heaven during the rapture. Thank god. All those poor souls that went up there, they dedicated their lives to serving him and they’ve finally been recalled. Now I suppose they’ll get their chance, the chance to serve him the way they’d been programmed, the way they felt they needed to, the way he wanted them to. Who wants to exist for the rest of eternity as a slave, serving him, on your knees before a being that thrives on it?

Not this guy, I’ll tell you that.
