Igniting
The hall, it is in darkness as you approach the stage,
picking up your instruments, getting ready with the rage.
The bass drum sets a pattern with a low and steady beat
as we all turn to face the front while sitting in our seats.
The bass it’s joining in and more drums are thumping too;
the guitar picks up the rhythm, the lead starts up on it’s queue.
And now the spotlights burst alight bathing the stage in super-brightness,
we’re all pushing forward, crushing up, not noticing the tightness.
And then the singer sings his song, not one note is wrong --
can’t say the same for the crowd who like to sing along.
The music has ignited us, set us all on fire,
anyone who disagrees I’d call a bare-faced liar.
The song, it draws now to its end, the ignition is complete;
as we’re all cheering and applauding and stamping down our feet.
We’ll not be satisfied with that, this band we do adore,
we’ll keep up our demands until you come and give us more!
And now the set is over but the music’s left a flame,
ignited such a passion that my life can’t be the same.

You a music lover, Hully? I envision you stamping your feet and singing atrociously. Poem's got a sick beat, I think it needs its own fiery soundtrack!
Very descriptive Hully. Reminds me of The guitar man by Bread.
Great poem.
An excellent poem, Hully--and I've heard this is a rush for the band--I wouldn't know, as our audience usually consisted of 3 guys, and 2 of them had their head on the bar, passed out!
