A birthday no one celebrates
If no one was himself.
A thousand faces pass,
His clothes his only wealth.

She's on her way to nowhere
Since that's all she's ever known.
A hollow hunger follows,
Ensuring she's alone.

He answers back with nothing
When tears have begged release.
Shrieks and shattered bottles
Will haunt his youthful dreams.

A beggar's sigh, an addict's cry,
A child's wish to fade away;
I wonder, how many more
We'll forget to death today?
