Storm At Sea

The storm is heading this way fast, it’s coming from the west,

it’s coming from the place where they do brew them up the best.

The sky’s a kind of purple, it’s really looking like it’s bruised,

a very darkened palette to paint the color has been used.

And then there comes a rumble, it comes from all around,

an ominous portent of the scale of storm is held within the sound.

The wind begins to pick up and it whips up a swelling sea,

a crash, a boom of thunder, makes all the seagulls flee.

The water now is roiling, swirling round and round;

the lightning slices through the sky and to the sea it’s bound.

There comes a massive sizzle, the water it does hiss,

there never really was a chance that the electric bolt would miss.

The thunder is like a thousand feet marching all as one,

and each and every one that marches beats upon a drum.

The sea, it seems to cower, it tries to pull itself apart

but there’s nowhere it can go to, to evade that electric art.

It splinters and it fragments and it forks throughout the air,

raining down in multiples that makes it so unfair.

But the purple now is lessening, the sky looking a bit less sick,

and the rumbles that are still around are fading pretty quick.

The waves begin to settle down, this storm it seems has passed

but I know that I can guarantee it will not be the last.
