Elton John--'Candle In The Wind'

Goodbye Norma Jean
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
While those around you crawled

They crawled out of the woodwork
And they whispered into your brain
They set you on the treadmill
And they made you change your name

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
When the rain set in
And I would have liked to have known you
But I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
Your legend ever did

Loneliness was tough
The toughest role you ever played
Hollywood created a superstar
And pain was the price you paid
Even when you died
Oh the press still hounded you
All the papers had to say
Was that Marilyn was found in the nude

Goodbye Norma Jean
From the young man in the 22nd row
Who sees you as something as more than sexual
More than just our Marilyn Monroe

NOT Elton John--'A Bunch of Bleating Sheep'

Goodbye common sense,
seems we never knew you at all
You just left in the dark of night,
and next morning you were gone

You crawled into the voting booth,
and you whispered into our brain
'there's nothing to see here!,'
while you f****d over democracy

And it seemed that you patted our heads
like a bunch of bleating sheep,

we strapped on your feed bag,
what's to eat, it makes me weep
and it makes my shoulders sag
when I see what's happened to
the Lady Liberty I knew before

all this shit went down

Watching is tough,
there won't be much to save,
The nation elected a reality star
and now we all will pay

Even as you lied
Oh the press still hounded you
And some people turned away
just let slide that you are crude

Good bye common sense
from the citizens left who mourn,
who see this as something more than usual,
it's a full-blown sucking hole
