Swan Song

Floating along the water, dipping down for fish,

through all these days gone by I only had one wish.

I was looking, always searching for the one who’s meant for me,

and now I’ve gone and found you, it’s really plain to see.

We’ll stick together constantly, through the thick and thin,

any threats that near us, we will take on and we’ll win.

For each and every swan there is the one true perfect mate,

the time that we do meet up is all just down to fate.

But now that I have found you, and you have found me too,

there never will be another swan to take the place of you.

For loyalty is in our nature and we now belong together,

we’ll grace the waters side-by-side, separated never.

If one of us should chance upon some kind of early death

the other will just live alone, unendingly bereft.

For each and every single swan, for them there is one only;

and when one should leave this life, the other will be lonely.

So we’ll swim along together, making ripples as we go

and hope that this circumstance is one we’ll never know.
