from inside it tears you apart
the pain shreds your heart
it rips, drips, flips and slips
it’s raw and it's heavy
they said we could bear it, but can we?

vomit this pain, let it out, but you dry heave on the floor
why can't you breathe anymore?
and the pain is nothing but a pencil
for it allows you to write and then be still

and you write to make right the injustice the ones above gave him
but the chances it will ever even matter are slim
it won't help anyone else find a way out
it won't ever save anyone no matter how loud you shout

the soles of your shoes beat on the pavement
you sprinted till your lungs hurt but you still couldn't save him
where is your story's hero?
happily ever after, they said so

and the floor is as cold as the hand you held
demise is the card the Lord dealt
and you wish you could've saw his hand
you could've stopped it before death reached land

why didn’t you know?
why were you too slow?

and you weaken as each weekend passes by
each Saturday you would've spent watching planes fly
but now his plane has left the landing
It's too far gone, it’s mere speckle in the sky

you could've saved him.
