Lifeless

Heavy footsteps are pounding on the leaf litter

Chainsaws rumble like erupting volcanoes

Where there should have been life

another world has appeared

Dust, dirt, gloom

Lifeless as a rock

Huge machinery and makeshift tents

Nothing but a man made mess

As I peer through the last of the vines

A nightmare awaits my presence

I cough into a billow of smoke

Dodging a small pile of bones

This was not a forest

Sawdust covering the dirt

What used to be so beautiful

Is just so different now
