His vanity determines how he tries

to be somebody else on different days;

or just to get the attention of some guys,

he thinks that faking love actually pays.

You find yourself enamored by his charm,

and heedless as to how this will turn out.

His pretty words conceived just to disarm

your fear—a chimeric hydra of doubt.

“I don’t date Asians, Eastern Europeans,

 Sand People, 'cause I’m a redneck,” he said.

You said, “My parents were Romanians.”

He tried to make love to you on his bed.

Blue sky petals unfolded in your heart

that nobody will ever label Art.
